Inside Snowbelt Cannabis: Small-Batch, Solventless, Women & Veteran-Owned

December 1, 2025 Buffalo Cannabis Network

Snowbelt Cannabis is a licensed cannabis processor and distributor headquartered in Jamestown, New York. This women, veteran and legacy grower owned business is focused on crafting the highest quality products through a careful hands on approach, specializing in solventless extraction to preserve the plant in its purest form.

“Everything we make is small batch and made by hand,” explains Snowbelt Co-Founder Ryan Peterson. “From the hash we wash to the gummies we pour, we focus on full-spectrum, functional cannabis that is clean, honest and made with intention.”

“Our mission at Snowbelt Cannabis is to create resilient cannabis rooted in people, planet and purpose. We want to improve lives, support small growers and build something that’s truly sustainable,” added Ashley Baron, Snowbelt Co-Founder. In addition to their mindfulness around sustainability in their processes and packaging, they are also proud to have rehabilitated an underutilized industrial space in Jamestown and transformed part of the historic furniture factory into a compliant lab and grow space.

They are currently in the queue to obtain their adult use cultivation license and hope to add that to their operations in 2026. They have held a hemp growing license for three years which has helped them transform the space in preparation for cannabis cultivation while providing the market with high quality CBD and CBG flower.

In Spring of 2022 Ryan had the opportunity to be part of the first Cannabis Compliance Training and Mentorship program offered by the Office of Cannabis Management. The 10 week CCTM program was created to help small farmers and business owners gain an understanding of how to operate in a legal cannabis market. The robust program covered a broad range of topics from basic operations, cultivation and processing methods, record keeping and compliance requirements from a variety of industry professionals and paired participants up with mentors who possessed a conditional cultivator license.

Ryan’s mentor, Steve Halton of Real Life Botanicals, shared his knowledge and experience openly, which helped Snowbelt Cannabis build a strong foundation for the company. Gaining insight and understanding from pioneers of this industry in New York State allowed Ryan and Ashley to be prepared to navigate an often changing landscape in the regulated cannabis market.

Ryan said that “the CCTM program helped boost our confidence as we learned how to construct our business in a way that makes sense for commercial production and how to keep up with compliance. We are grateful we had the opportunity to participate and hope that programming will continue to be offered to future entrepreneurs as well as advanced learning for existing operators.”

The mentorship program may have been only ten weeks, but the relationship has continued and now after four years of hard work and implementing the knowledge gained, Snowbelt Cannabis is excited to announce its first THC products have begun hitting the shelves at dispensaries across western New York in September 2025. Alongside their craft quality hemp flower, their product lineup now includes a live hash rosin and functional gummies. Infused pre-rolls are among several products on the horizon for the company.
