The New York State Cannabis Advisory Board will hold its next public meeting in Rochester on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The meeting begins at 1 p.m. Eastern Time at Monroe Community College’s Downtown Campus. It will also be available by livestream.

The meeting is open to the public, but the Office of Cannabis Management says only a limited number of people will be able to attend in person because of space restrictions.
Advance registration is encouraged to make in-person check-in easier, but it is not required. Registration is also not required to watch the livestream.
What does the Cannabis Advisory Board do?
The Cannabis Advisory Board and Cannabis Control Board have different responsibilities.
The Cannabis Control Board makes regulatory and licensing decisions. The Advisory Board provides guidance and recommendations to the Control Board, the Office of Cannabis Management, and state lawmakers.
The Advisory Board’s work can cover:
- Cannabis cultivation, processing and distribution
- Licensing and industry development
- Social and economic equity
- Public health and safety
- Environmental sustainability
- Product testing and retail sales
- Criminal-justice issues
- Community reinvestment
The 13-member Advisory Board also governs and administers New York’s Community Grants Reinvestment Fund. The fund uses a portion of cannabis tax revenue to support communities disproportionately affected by past cannabis enforcement.
Why the Rochester meeting matters
Bringing the meeting to Rochester gives residents, operators, advocates and community organizations across Western New York and the Finger Lakes a closer opportunity to observe the state’s cannabis-policy discussions.
The announcement does not include a detailed agenda. Specific presentations, recommendations or board actions should not be assumed until OCM publishes the meeting materials.
